Town and Blackpool Linked With Scunthorpe Winger
Wednesday, 31st Mar 2021 12:29

Town and Blackpool are reportedly showing interest in Scunthorpe winger Alex Gilliead, who is out of contract in the summer.

According to Football League World, the Blues are monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation with the Seasiders also keen.

Gilliead, who plays primarily on the right, joined the Iron in the summer of 2019 and has made 77 starts and three sub appearances for the League Two club, scoring seven times. This season he has scored once and picked up four assists.

The six-foot-tall County Durham-born wideman or striker started his career with Newcastle United and featured for England’s U16, U17, U18 and U20 sides while at St James’ Park.

During his time as a Magpies player he spent spells on loan at Carlisle, Luton and Bradford before moving to Shrewsbury on a two-year deal in the summer of 2018 before departing for his current club for an undisclosed fee a year later.

Think this tells us that the takeover won't be happening- journeyman player with no real pedigree out of contract on a free - sounds right up Evans street, joke

NOT taking any notice of these links and rumours, if its got anytghing to do with Evans, if they are any good we wont get them, I will not be remotely considering returning to PR whilst we are languishing in Lge 1 with him as owner, PC is going to need back up, if we are going to progress,or he will be just another manager who passed through and leaves letting everyone know whats wrong at the club .NOT THAT WE NEED REMINDING .

I thought we were capped at spending a maximum of £20,000 on a transfer fee in the next transfer window, so it doesn't matter who owns the club, there will not be a fee paid. Perhaps Phil can do an article on this, so idiots stop posting the same old comment about free transfers!!.

If play off bound Blackpool are in for him, that rules us out.

Readtheleaguetable - most supporters won't have a clue what you're talking about!!
Coming on here and making comments above characters from literature. Whatever next?

@Dog - Don't know if that's correct but I agree with you, I don't think any club in the lower leagues will be paying a transfer fee this summer because of the impact of Covid on their finances.

The cap no longer exists. Next apology for your pin up?

@BudapestByBlimp and @Dog

I read the same but can't find the link. Not over 20,000 over the two transfer windows for any League 1 club. So, we are all going to be reliant on situations like above (free transfers) or loans. Unless we get promoted.

Bluearmy81 the salary cap has nothing to do with whether we can pay transfer fees. That is to do with the premier league bail out. If the club accept that money, then the club can only pay transfer fees up to £20,000 over the next 2 transfer windows. If we dont accept it, which Evan's has already stated(presuming he still here), we're unlikely to do, then that doesnt stand.

Won't happen

BcarefulwhatUWish4. That only applies tho, if we accept the premier league bail out. If we dont, and Evan's has stated its unlikely we would, that rule doesnt apply.

Dog - the salary cap has been binned what planet gave you been living on and Evans didn't take premier bale out as yet, so stop posting idiotic posts, do you really think someone would be interested in a takeover if they couldn't spend any money

Hardly a priority area: box to box midfielder and striker- someone who can snaffle a half chance in the area please.

Was a Hurst signing at Shrewsbury and then again at Scunny. That tells us everything.

One goal all season? Clearly the sort of attacking midfield player we need.
Danny Rowe is out of contract in the summer as well.

A reminder to those that keep banging on about a 'rebuild'. This is the kind of market ITFC will be shopping in come the summer - a League 2 cast-off who has 7 goals in 80 games for his current club. That is of course unless Evans fu*ks off and we can get some serious investment in the club.
