Cardiff City considering surprise move for Brighton and Hove Albion striker

Cardiff City are considering a shock move for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Glenn Murray.

The Bluebirds are interested in bringing in the 35-year-old this summer, according to the Daily Mirror live transfer blog (14:21, 11.07.19).

Murray’s contract at the AMEX Stadium expires at the end of next season meaning he may be open to a move to Neil Warnock’s side on a longer deal.

Cardiff have been busy of late adding to their squad ahead of their upcoming Championship season. They have signed Joe Day, Curtis Nelson and Will Vaulks so far in this transfer window.

Murray, who is a vastly experienced forward having racked up over 550 games in his career, has scored a combined 29 goals in the Premier League over the past two seasons.

He is also a proven goal scorer in the second tier and was part of the Brighton side who were promoted to the top flight in 2017.

Murray has had spells at Carlisle United, Rochdale, Crystal Palace, Reading and AFC Bournemouth in the past and has scored 213 goals so far in his career.

Cardiff are in the hunt for a striker for next season and Neil Warnock may turn to a familiar face having managed Murray at Palace in the past. However, it will be hard to lure him away from the Seagulls based on his form over the past two campaigns.
