Aston Villa express interest in Premier League midfielder

Championship side Aston Villa have expressed interested in signing Cardiff City’s loaned in midfielder Harry Arter, according to the Irish Independent.

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Premier League midfielder Harry Arter. Cardiff City could lose the loaned in midfielder this January with parent club Bournemouth considering recalling the Irishman.

Arter has impressed during his time with Cardiff under Neil Warnock. However, they could be set to lose him earlier than they had originally hoped. Bournemouth are considering bringing him back to the South coast while interest gathers.

Premier League side Watford are reportedly eyeing up a move for Arter as interest in star midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure grows, potentially leaving a big void in their midfield. Aston Villa have also expressed an interest as they look to strengthen their midfield heading into the second half of the Championship season.

Arter started his career with Charlton Athletic, but he barely featured for The Addicks. He then went on to spend one season with Woking after leaving The Valley, before joining Bournemouth in 2010. The Irishman went out on loan to Carlisle for half a season and has been a regular in the first team ever since.

29-year-old Arter has gone on to play a massive 254 times for Bournemouth, scoring 29 goals and picking up 20 assists to help Bournemouth climb up the football league ladder and into the Premier League.

He has represented the Republic of Ireland national team on 15 occasions after making his debut off the bench against England in a 0-0 draw back in June 2015.
